Nikolas A. Ippolito, P.E.
Senior Project Manager, Airport Engineering and Planning
Why did you choose this career? When the opportunity to specialize in airport engineering presented itself in 2008, the economy was in the midst of the housing crash. Because the majority of airport engineering and construction are funded through the FAA’s Airport Improvement Program (AIP) the thought of stable work was very enticing. Airport engineering has allowed me the opportunity act as the Owner’s Field Engineer during construction, so the knowledge of construction enables us to design more effectively. In my opinion, this career has made me a much better engineer.
What is your favorite part of the job? While the design and construction process is very rewarding, my favorite part of this job is the interview process during Airport Consultant Selections. I find it very enjoyable to present our offices qualifications and experience to each potential client.
Who are you outside of Gale? Outside of work I spend time at home with my family. My wife Samantha and I have a two-year-old son named Logan and two dogs (Bosco and Koji). We enjoy summer weekends at our lake house in Gray, Maine on Little Sebago Lake. I play golf as much as possible, and I play in two flag football leagues.
Fun Fact: If someone were to play you in a movie, who would it be? Given his role in Black Sails, Tom Hopper would capture my honesty and loyalty very well.
